Tout Terrain relaunches European e-bike line w/ new removable, Silent E-Drive

Tout Terrain announced a revamp and relaunch of their e-bike line, including options for trekking and urban/commuting. The new models feature chromoly steel frames, welded-on rear racks, and Gates Carbon Drive systems. The biggest change, however, is the addition of removable Silent E-Drive from Neodrives.Advertisements

Tout Terrain went back to the drawing board for the frame itself, but retained some key parts spec. For example, they’re big on simplicity and user-friendliness, and are sticking with Pinion gearboxes rather than external derailleur systems.

Why not nestle that battery inside the frame like so many other brands do? Tout Terrain sees real consumer demand for a bike that can operate as 100% “analog” (i.e. non-E-bike), effectively giving you an entire second bike.

As the kids would say these days, the battery is a chonky boi, but it’s entirely removable. It has 500Wh of juice, for up-to-120km of range. It drives a 250W / 40NM Neodrives rear hub, said to be virtually silent. The system weighs a reported 4kg.

Models & Options

Three key frame options are available: the Amber Road E-Xpress, Metropolitan E-Xpress, and the Shopper E-Xpress – including dropped top-tube options, dubbed “Trapez”. Pricing depends on component configuration, but two pre-made “Select” models are available: the Metropolitan E-Xpress Trapez Plus Select (€5,220.00), and the Amber Road E-Xpress Premium Select (€5,520.00).
