K-Edge Top Tube Mount offers more protected position for your Wahoo or Garmin GPS

Here’s yet another reason why more companies should be adding top tube mounts to their bikes. If you’re not using the spot to carry some extra gear in the form of a top tube bag, it seems like a pretty smart place to mount your computer, particularly for off-road use. It’s still visible while you’re in the saddle, but it also may keep your pricey bit of electronics away from harm in the event of a crash.Advertisements

With more bikes than ever offering top tube mounts, K-Edge says that they have been hearing quite a few requests for a specific computer mount for this location. Which makes sense – if the likelihood of a crash is high, having your GPS positioned on top of your bar or out front, could be a recipe for disaster. This probably won’t be the mounting method of choice for many riders, but it’s always great to have options. The Top Tube mount will sell for $39.99.

Offered with both Garmin and Wahoo approved inserts, these plastic discs are designed to protect the mounting tabs on the computer in case you do manage to impact the GPS in a crash. There’s also a tether pass through for extra protection.

Designed to work with every size of head unit, the mounts offer multiple mounting positions to allow you to fine tune the fit. Moving forward, the Garmin insert will also have a new pass through hole which allows you to access the mounting screw with the insert in place. That allows for the forward mounting hole to be easily used. Technically, it seems like you could do the same with the Wahoo insert, but it would require removal of the insert to reach the bolt underneath.

More importantly, that will mean that their Gravity Cap users will now be able to install and remove the cap, as well as adjust the headset without having to remove the insert.

What else is new with K-Edge? Well, they were excited to pass along this photo of a certain jersey that just arrived at their office. Yes, that is a Yellow Jersey from the 2019 Tour de France signed by Julian Alaphilippe. You know, just a thank you from the Frenchman for the excellent mounts used during an exciting Tour.
