Ergon adds eMTB & “comfort” mountain bike saddles, plus colorful new grips [Remote Otter]

Sprucing up your bike for summer? Or just looking to make that epic long-distance mountain bike more comfortable? Maybe it’s vibration reduction your after on your e-mountain bike? Ergon’s got something for all that. From a rainbow (literally, with their new “Oil Slick” rail and lock-on grip offerings) of new colors to foam-based MTB saddles and more, here’s the run through straight from their R&D department…

Many of these items are available online already, as well as in select dealers. Links within the article take you straight to their pages on REI or WorldWideCyclery (we make a small affiliate commission if you buy through these links, which helps support Bikerumor’s efforts to keep all the latest cycling tech news coming your way!).

Trying to match that Oil Slick finish across more of your bike? You can always upgrade to the 2020 SRAM Eagle XX1 cassette, and Crank Brothers has some limited edition flat pedals to go with it.

2020 Ergon SMC Comfort & Gel MTB saddles

\"gel
SMC Women’s Gel shown left/larger, Men’s SMC standard on right. Note the gender-specific cut out relief shapes.

Real quick, their naming scheme goes like this S=Saddle, M=Mountain, and C=Comfort. And these new ones add a layer of orthopedic or gel padding to their existing SM saddles. It’s not often you find a “performance” gel saddle, but these get you pretty close. And with weights from about 297g to 340g, they’re not terribly heavy for a gel-padded saddle, either.

Gel versions are $89.95, available in both Men’s and Women’s versions. Standard foam versions are $69.95, also available for men and women. All versions come in S/M and M/L sizes for different sit bone widths.

SM Enduro Comp saddle updated, adds Oil Slick

\"ergon

The SM Enduro saddle gets an update with rails adjusted slightly backward, giving you more adjustment range on today’s slacker enduro bike geometry (and if your bike has more upright seat tube angles, these will work, too).

The design has rounded, padded corners all around, so no matter how you’re maneuvering yourself on or off the bike, it makes those transitions smooth and pain free. The tail has less upward kick at the end than their XC-oriented models, making it easier to get off the back on the steep descents.

The SM Enduro comes in S/M and M/L sizes, with several versions. The base model ($79.95) gets standard steel rails. The Comp ($99.95) upgrades to lighter chromoly rails, with the option for Oil Slick anodizing. Or go for the Pro Titanium version to save more grams ($179.95).

SM E-Mountain Core Prime saddles

\"ergon

Originally designed for their commuter bikes, the EVA cushioning (used on many athletic shoes thanks to its durable-yet-squishy nature) creates a floating suspension-like platform between top and base on these saddles. Aimed at the e-Mountain Bike crowd, Ergon says they’ll mute vibrations quite well. The design also helps the saddle move with your thighs as you pedal (check the video to see it in action).

These are coming soon, retail should be $149.

Ergon GE1 Evo grips get new colors

\"2020

Shown left to right, the new colors for Ergon’s GE1 enduro mountain bike grips include: Black, Frozen Moss and Frozen Orange (Factory grip material, Oil Slick lock rings for some, $39.95), followed by Midsummer Blue, Juicy Orange, Sand Storm, and Yellow Mellow (standard grip material, $34.95)
