DB set free the Diamondback Release 29 and Carbon Sync’r Hardtail MTBs for 2021

In addition to the rapid expansion of the Haanjo gravel bike collection, Diamondback have added two new mountain bikes to their off-road line-up for 2021. A new aluminium full suspension trail bike; the Diamondback Release 29 1, and a new carbon hardtail; the Diamondback Sync’r 29. Here’s a quick intro.

Diamondback Release 29 1

The Diamondback Release 29 was, well, released for the first time in 2019. There are no geometry or travel changes for this model year. What this aluminium frame does get is a few key spec updates and a fresh lick of paint.

\"2021

Diamondback have partnered with SR Suntour for suspension on this year’s Release. The Aion fork delivers 140mm of travel at the front. The Edge R shock supports 130mm rear wheel travel serviced by Diamondback’s Level Link suspension platform. The headtube sits at a conservative 67.7°. The seat tube is slack by current standards at 73°.

\"2021The Diamondback Release 29 doesn’t offer the roomiest cockpit we’ve ever seen. Reach figures span 402mm-472mm across the small to extra large size range; just 427mm in medium with a seat tube length of 432mm. Chainstays sit at 446mm, consistent across the sizes.

Diamondback Sync’r Carbon 29

Diamondback’s most progressive hardtail mountain bike now comes as a 29er. In fact, its geometry is arguably more aggressive than that of the full suspension Release. For 2021, it also gets an all-new monocoque carbon frame a tapered headtube and boost rear spacing for increased stiffness.

\"new

The 2021 Diamondback Sync’r Carbon 29 gets a 140mm travel fork in the form of a Fox 34 Performance Float. That sits at a head angle of 66°, paired with a seat tube angle of 74°. Again, this Diamondback hardtail doesn’t offer a super roomy cockpit with reach figures spanning 415mm-472mm over the S-XL size range. Chainstays sit at 435mm, consistent across the sizes.
